A Miraculous Arrival

Extending A Helping Hand
At the vet, the family discovered that the stray was a Carolina dog, a rare and ancient breed. She was about a year old, severely underfed, and suffering from intestinal worms, fleas, and ticks. Despite her rough condition, her resilient spirit shone through.
Seeing her dire need for care, the Waychoffs decided to take her under their wing. They named her Leia, inspired by the beloved Star Wars character, and began treating her ailments. Leia’s gratitude was palpable as she received the care she had long been deprived of.
Leia quickly bonded with the Waychoffs, especially enjoying the comforting embrace of Waychoff’s arms. Her loving personality endeared her even more to the family, solidifying her place in their hearts.
Waychoff shared Leia’s story on TikTok, hoping to inspire others to help animals in need. “I hope that videos like mine help people open their hearts to all types of animals and inspire them to treat animals well no matter what,” she said.
Receiving The Love She Always Needed
Over time, Leia adapted to her new life on the ranch. The Waychoffs introduced her gradually to their other pets, including Bo Brando, their rescue cat, and their dogs, Stella and Capone. Leia’s presence brought new joy and excitement to their lives.
The family believed that Leia’s arrival was not a mere coincidence. They felt she was sent to them for a reason, and they were determined to give her the life she deserved. On May 7th, 2024, Waychoff shared the heartwarming news that they had decided to give Leia a forever home.
“Even though she’s only been with us for a few days, we bonded to her and feel that she was sent to us for a reason. We’ve decided to keep her and give her the best life we can, because her beautiful doggie soul deserves it,” Waychoff wrote in a TikTok video.
The family couldn’t be happier with their decision. Leia’s journey from a stray to a beloved family member is a testament to the power of love and compassion. Her story continues to inspire many to open their hearts to animals in need.
