All shelter dogs live each day with the hope that they’ll finally find their forever home where they’ll be cherished and loved. Every pup deserves that chance to feel special.
Tragically, many dogs in shelters are passed by without a second glance, leaving them feeling invisible and forgotten.
Despite this, they continue to hope that one day, their forever family will come and take them home.
Kylie, a delightful shelter dog, knows this feeling all too well, having faced disappointment over and over again.
More than anything, Kylie yearns for a chance to meet people who will give her the love she so richly deserves.
Kylie’s Journey Begins
Kylie once lived a happy life on a farm with a family who adored her. When she became pregnant, her family continued to care for her.
However, complications arose, and it became clear that Kylie needed a C-section.
Unable to afford the surgery, her family made the difficult decision to surrender her to the Spokane Humane Society in Washington to ensure she received the care she needed.
While her puppies found loving homes, Kylie remained at the shelter, confused and missing her family.
The shelter staff were heartbroken that such a loving dog was continually overlooked for adoption.
Transferred to a New Home
In hopes of better luck, Kylie was transferred to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington.
Julie, a volunteer at the Kennewick shelter, quickly grew attached to Kylie, giving her as much love and attention as possible.
“I’ll sit in the kennel with her and she’ll sit with me. She likes getting pets. It’s tough for her because she doesn’t get as much people time as she would like,” Julie told GeoBeats Animals.
When volunteers visit, Kylie is overjoyed, as she spends most of her day in her kennel.
Julie shared, “She’s so excited, otherwise they are stuck in their kennels usually for around 22 hours a day.”
Kylie greets visitors with a toy in her mouth, her tail wagging and eyes sparkling with love, eager for playtime.
Julie loves to see Kylie smile and often brings her new toys to brighten her day.
Kylie’s Love for Humans
Before her time in the shelter, Kylie enjoyed interacting with other animals on the farm.
After three years in the shelter, her behavior towards other animals changed. She now prefers human company over other animals.
Julie believes this is the main reason Kylie hasn’t found a home yet.
Julie explained, “I think that is 90% of the reason why she hasn’t found a home because most animal lovers have a dog or a cat. So to find someone that fits Kylie’s needs is really tough.”
Kylie adores spending time with people and was thrilled to meet and play with Julie’s nieces.
This affectionate dog has so much love to give. All she needs is a chance.
Julie mentioned that their area has “a huge pet overpopulation problem,” making it hard to find a foster for Kylie.
Hope for the Future
The shelter staff remain hopeful that Kylie will find her forever home where she will be truly cherished.
Kylie would be ecstatic to leave the shelter and bask in the love of her new family.
We fervently hope that this adorable dog will soon find her happily-ever-after.
We would love to see her smile, knowing she is finally home. Just like all dogs, Kylie deserves to be showered with infinite affection and love.

It breaks my heart to see such a loving dog overlooked. We need more awareness about shelter dogs. Thank you for highlighting Kylie’s story!

Aww, poor Kylie! I hope she finds her forever home soon. She looks like such a sweetheart. Does anyone know if there are any adoption events coming up in Kennewick?
