A Curious And Exciting Encounter
During one of her routine truck inspections in Northeast Texas, a woman named Robin Clemons noticed something peculiar. Across the street, there was a movement that caught her eye. As she focused, she realized it was a dog, and soon, more dogs emerged from the same spot.
Intrigued, Clemons inquired with her mechanics about the dogs. They informed her that the dogs had been residing in an abandoned barn nearby for quite some time. Determined to assist, she rushed home to gather food and blankets for them.
Upon returning, Clemons observed that the dogs were understandably wary, having had little to no human interaction before. Despite their initial hesitation, they eagerly devoured the food she provided and appeared content with the care.
Counting all the furry residents, Clemons discovered there were nine puppies along with their mother. This revelation spurred her to take further action to ensure their safety and well-being.
Initiate A Rescue Operation
Following the encounter, Clemons reached out to the Northeast Texas Rescue Organization (NETRO), who were quick to respond. The NETRO team set up food traps to safely capture the dogs and transport them to a shelter.
While most of the dogs took the bait, the mother dog remained elusive, avoiding the traps at all costs. Despite their best efforts, the staff couldn’t capture her at the same time as her puppies.
Once at the foster home, the puppies appeared bewildered by their new surroundings. The NETRO team shared with The Dodo: “It was very apparent that they were not used to humans at all,” highlighting their need for acclimation.
The team noted that the puppies were fascinated by other animals at the shelter. “When the cows approach their fence, it makes them go crazy with excitement,” they said, showing the puppies’ curiosity towards these new experiences.
