A New Life
Puppies rely on their mother’s love to thrive, but not all are fortunate to experience it. Koby, a Pit Bull mix, was separated from his mother at a young age. Along with his siblings, he was abandoned at a South Carolina shelter because they weren’t purebreds.
The puppies longed for their mother’s warmth, finding themselves in a cardboard box instead. The shelter staff quickly took them in, but since it was a kill shelter, Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue in New York stepped in to save them.
In 2021, newlyweds visited the rescue with hopes of adopting a dog. A tan Pit Bull puppy named Koby instantly captured their hearts. Koby connected deeply with Steven and Jessica the first time they held him.
Steven shared, “The first time we got to hold him, he just sunk in our arms.” They brought Koby to his forever home that very day. Initially, he struggled to sleep, but a stuffed animal with a heartbeat comforted him, helping him adjust to his new life.
Koby Adores His Parents
Koby’s affection for his new family was boundless. He adored sitting in his dad’s lap and cuddling on the couch. Steven was surprised by how much Pit Bulls love to snuggle. They treated Koby like their own child, and he became an integral part of their family.
The pup was always eager to be with his parents, feeling sad when left alone. His parents could easily read his emotions through his expressive eyes. Jessica remarked, “It’s like looking at a person. You know exactly what he’s feeling just based on his eyes alone.”

Steven cherished Koby’s enthusiastic greetings, saying, “He’s become such an important part of my every day. If I have a tough day at work, it’s nice coming home to a beautiful wife, but it’s also nice coming home to somebody that you know is guaranteed gonna greet you with excitement and hugs and kisses.”
Koby’s affection for his family was unwavering. His bond with Steven was particularly strong, and the two shared countless moments of joy and love. Steven often referred to Koby as his son, reflecting the deep connection they had formed.
The couple couldn’t imagine their lives without Koby. His presence brought immense happiness and comfort to their home. Koby’s expressive eyes and loving nature made him an irreplaceable member of the family.
