Rescuing stray animals often presents daunting challenges, and few know this better than Donna Lochmann of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, with over two decades of experience. This particular Pittie, however, was a unique case of terror and transformation.
Despite her expertise, Donna found herself dealing with a petrified street dog. In a matter of minutes, this scared pup turned into a lovable darling, captivating the hearts of many online.
From Scared To Sweetheart
On Valentine’s Day, Donna received an urgent call about a panicked dog loitering around an industrial area. Upon arrival, she saw the frightened dog peeking from behind a building. As she drew closer, the dog tried to flee but found itself cornered by a fence.
Donna recounted, “She was definitely looking for a way to get away from me, but there was no way out. She barked a couple of times, like a super-scared warning.” With no escape, the dog crouched, its tail tucked in fear.
Recognizing her fear, Donna gently offered food and spoke softly. “I knelt down so she didn’t feel so threatened and started talking to her. I tossed one sausage over to her, and she ate it,” Donna shared.
Surprisingly, the dog soon ignored the food, focusing instead on Donna. “She passed right by the other sausages. When she got to me, she nuzzled her head right in my shirt, then she rolled over and looked up at me,” Donna remembered. This gesture stunned Donna, as no other dog had reacted this way before.
Love Can Change Lives
Donna and the now-named Cutie Pie headed to the Stray Rescue facility, where she received ample food, a refreshing bath, and a thorough vet check. Cutie Pie’s transformation was swift and heartwarming.
Everyone at the facility adored Cutie Pie’s affectionate nature. She blossomed quickly, proving that a little love can work wonders.
Cutie Pie’s eyes now gleamed with life, an utterly precious sight. She soon moved to a foster home she quickly grew to love.
“She curls up in her bed as well as her little foster dog brother’s bed. She has the biggest, sweetest smile, she loves zooming around the yard… she is one special soul with infectious joy,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
A Bright Future Ahead
After enduring so much, Cutie Pie is finally showered with the love she deserves. Her transformation is nothing short of miraculous.
