Meet Nubby
When a call came about a baby Boxer born without front legs needing a home, Lou didn’t hesitate. She rushed to pick up the sweet boy, and though her husband Mark was initially unaware, the moment he held the puppy, he knew they had to give him their all.
The first night with Nubby was a challenge. “Our first night with Nubby was horrible. We got up every hour,” Mark shared. Despite a rocky start and a trip to the ICU, this resilient pup made a full recovery, proving he was a fighter from the start.
Upon returning home, Lou and Mark committed to making Nubby’s life as comfortable and joyous as possible. “We built a LEGO wheelchair. He just took off scooting across the floor,” Mark stated. Nubby’s disability never held him back; he was an active puppy, jumping and crawling wherever he could.
Inspired by his resilience, Lou and Mark turned exercise into fun adventures, helping Nubby strengthen his legs. Over time, he learned to stand on his back legs and even jump. “Nubby figured out that he could launch himself and jump. It’s as if he is not missing anything,” the couple said.
Here Comes The Litter
As Nubby grew, he was surrounded by loving humans and adorable dog siblings. One of his furry companions was a pregnant mama dog rescued by Lou and Mark. When she gave birth to six puppies, Nubby was overjoyed, becoming the happiest pup in all of Texas.
Nubby adored spending time with the litter. He was the best older sibling, bringing endless fun to the little ones while ensuring their safety and well-being. His loving nature shone through every interaction with his new siblings.
“It doesn’t matter how many legs he has; he is just happy,” the couple said. “Just because you have a limb difference doesn’t mean you don’t have quality of life. He teaches that every single day.” Nubby’s spirit and joy inspired everyone around him, showing that perseverance and love conquer all.
With Nubby as their role model, the adorable litter is sure to grow into strong, happy pups, ready to find their own families and live their best lives. Good luck, little ones!

This is so heartwarming, but I’m worried about the other puppies. Are they getting enough attention too?

Is it really safe for a dog like Nubby to jump around? Curious how you handle that!
