From the moment we embrace our dogs and welcome them into our homes, they become indispensable parts of our families. Their well-being becomes our priority, and it’s hard to imagine life without them.
Every dog owner should cherish their pets unconditionally, striving to provide the best life possible.
It’s heartbreaking to know that some owners don’t feel the same way about their loyal companions.
This story revolves around a lovable three-year-old dog, Denny, who was betrayed by his family when they decided to move without him.
Denny was taken to the vet to be euthanized simply because his owners were relocating.
Despite being blind from an old injury, Denny was otherwise healthy.
The vet refused to put Denny down and started searching for a way to save him.
Saving Denny’s Life
The vet team aimed to find a family who would treasure Denny and give him the love he deserved.
While waiting at the vet’s office, Denny remained unaware of his family’s betrayal, still believing they loved him and would never abandon him.
One vet team member reached out to Chrissy Elder, founder of the North Carolina rescue, Forgotten, Now Family, explaining that Denny’s owners wanted to euthanize their healthy dog.
“When I heard about Denny, I knew I had to do something to help. No animal deserves to be abandoned, especially one as sweet as Denny,” Elder told Newsweek.
Once the rescue agreed to take Denny, his owners decided against euthanasia and surrendered him to the rescue instead.
According to Elder, the owners seemed relieved that Denny got a second chance.
The Sweetest Chapter Of Denny’s Life
Elder chose to foster the adorable pup, taking him into her home.
Although Denny couldn’t see his previous owners leaving, he sensed their absence and knew things had changed.
Elder understood that the transition would be challenging for blind Denny, so she gave him time to adjust to his new environment.
She showered him with cuddles, ensuring he felt loved and secure.
Denny, ever the optimist, kept smiling and loved snuggling in his foster mom’s lap.
Elder was enchanted by his affectionate nature and infectious smile.
“This guy is the sweetest house hippo I’ve ever met. Somehow he still smiles and just wants to love everyone,“ Elder wrote on Instagram.
Shortly after taking Denny in, Elder fell in love with him and decided to give him a forever home.
Denny’s face now beams with happiness every day, feeling safe and cherished.
Denny and Elder enjoy their time together and look forward to their future adventures.
His happy ending has warmed our hearts. We are grateful to the vet team for contacting the Charlotte-based rescue and to Chrissy Elder for making Denny the happiest dog ever.
