Help Me, Please
The founder of a rescue group in North Carolina was taking a stroll when she noticed a small white head emerging from a ditch. She was stunned. As she bent down to get a closer look, the pungent smell of the dog’s mangey skin filled the air. The puppy desperately needed assistance, and it was almost miraculous that it was she who found her.
“This poor baby has experienced the worst of humanity, yet she still managed to crawl out of the ditch and into my arms. She will receive medical treatment and vaccines first thing tomorrow,” wrote Margaret, the founder. Despite her agony, the puppy found the strength to crawl out into the arms of her rescuer. She instantly melted into Margaret’s embrace, showering her with love despite her suffering.
That night, Margaret took the puppy home, trimming her overgrown nails and giving her a medicated bath. The puppy had sunburns alongside her demodectic mange, making her skin red and painful.
The Road To Recovery
The following morning, Margaret took the puppy to a veterinary clinic for an examination. The vet confirmed she was heartworm-negative and approximately three years old, although her tiny size made everyone think she was much younger. Her rough life had taken a toll on her.
They decided to name her Slurpee. In just two days after her rescue, Slurpee transformed remarkably. Her personality began to shine, turning her into the happiest little dog.
“Slurpee is feeling better each day, and her skin condition is already improving. Demodectic mange looks scary, but it’s not contagious,” Margaret shared on TikTok.
In a few weeks, Slurpee will hopefully be completely healthy and leave the memory of that ditch behind. Better days are ahead for this sweet girl.
