Dime – A Gentle Giant
Dime’s early months were spent in a junkyard in Atlanta, surrounded by other dogs. His life took a turn when he and his doggy dad escaped and found shelter with a compassionate woman.
Shortly after, Graham Fellers received a call from a friend about Dime needing a home. Without hesitation, Graham decided to adopt the lovable dog!
Dime quickly became an inseparable part of Graham and Skip’s life, fitting perfectly into their mountain home. He was shy at first but soon revealed his gentle and loving nature.
Despite his large size, Dime’s heart was even bigger. In 2020, the couple added another dog, Pork Roll, to their family. The two dogs formed an instant bond, creating endless joy and laughter.
A Heartbreaking Surprise
After years of happiness, Dime’s owners noticed he was favoring one foot. Concerned, they took him to the vet, where Dime was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, a disease affecting his spinal cord.
Graham and Skip were determined to ease Dime’s struggles. They designed a special harness to support his hind legs during walks, ensuring his mobility and comfort.
Additionally, they provided Dime with a wheelchair, allowing him to walk independently. Sometimes, Pork Roll would even help by pulling the wheelchair.
Despite his condition, Dime’s spirit remained unbroken. He adapted to his new lifestyle and continued to enjoy his family’s company, radiating happiness.
Life Full of Love
“Dime has lived the most full life with us,” his momma shared. From baseball games to national parks, Dime has experienced countless adventures with his family.
His family ensures he is included in everything. Together with Pork Roll, Dime cherishes every moment in the mountains, making the best of his life.
Dime still enjoys walks with his dad, long cuddle sessions, and delicious treats for being such a good boy. His family’s love and support are unwavering.
Graham and Skip feel blessed to have Dime in their lives. They see his disease as just a challenge, not a defeat, and continue to make every day special for him.
