Hungry And Dehydrated, Craving Love
In the aftermath of her owners’ eviction, Reeses Puppycups, an eight-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier, endured a week of severe neglect. When discovered by The South Toms River Police Department, she was critically undernourished and dehydrated.
Luckily, the kind souls at Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter in Forked River, New Jersey, took swift action. They transported her to a safe place, beginning her journey towards a new and hopeful life.
“Her owners abandoned her when they were evicted from their home. When Reeses was finally found, she was emaciated, dehydrated, and in desperate need of care,” shared AHPPS on Facebook.
During her veterinary examination, it was revealed that she had more than just emotional scars. Reeses also had several tumors that required immediate medical intervention.
She’s The Whole Package
Reeses did not just survive; she began to thrive under the compassionate care of her new guardians. She transformed into a completely different dog, charming everyone she encountered.
“Reeses is not a fan of other pets but she sure loves people, and she is so well-behaved, affectionate, friendly, and an all-around great girl. She loves running and playing from time to time but is also very mellow too,” the rescue added in their post.
Her past hardships did not dim her spirit. Reeses’ enthusiasm for life shone through, and she eagerly embraced everything around her. She is destined to bring joy to her future family.
Her bad days are now behind her. While she continues to receive medical care, she is finally ready to start a new chapter filled with love and happiness.
