When a deaf dog named Mama Storm and her tiny pup, little Puddles, were discovered near a perilous riverbank, they were devoid of hope. Prue, a veteran rescuer with a heart of gold from Mission Pawsible, was taken aback when she first laid eyes on Storm and Puddles. She found it heartbreaking to see animals in such deplorable conditions. “It’s unfathomable how I keep encountering abandoned pets in the strangest places,” Prue shared on Instagram. With the help of some volunteers, she quickly launched a mission to save the dogs from their dangerous predicament.
Puddles, still just a few months old, was extremely anxious and distrustful of people. He barked and growled incessantly, unwilling to be touched. Thankfully, he was “frozen” in a corner, making it easier to rescue him. Mama Storm, however, was unresponsive. She gazed at the river, seemingly oblivious to the rescuers. Her spirit seemed utterly broken. She allowed the rescuers to pick her up without any fuss, as if she sensed that her life was about to change for the better.
Once secured in a crate, Prue and her team transported the dogs to her home, already a haven for numerous other rescues. The initial days were tough for Storm and Puddles as they struggled to adjust to their new surroundings. Recognizing their special needs, Prue knew they would require a dedicated foster home and constant care. Then, something extraordinary happened!
A Fresh Beginning
Tara, a rescuer from Florida, heard about Storm and Puddles and immediately decided to take them in. Her daughter, Raven, was thrilled to welcome the new furry friends. “Puddles is a huge love muffin. Clumsy, dopey, and incredibly affectionate. Being partially blind, he requires time to trust you (like all blind dogs). But once he recognizes your voice, scent, and touch, he will be your lifelong couch buddy,” MP posted on Instagram. Ultimately, Puddles found his forever home with Tara and Raven, who embraced him as a new member of their family. Today, he enjoys car rides, endless playtime, and thrilling adventures planned by his human sister.
