A Brave Kitten’s Unyielding Spirit
A kitten was discovered under a car during a harsh storm. The good-hearted individual who found her took her in from the cold, providing warmth and food. Despite her struggle to breathe, her indomitable spirit shone through.
At just eight weeks old, she had already faced the harsh streets of NYC alone. By the time she was taken to an animal hospital and rescued by Little Wanderers NYC, she was in a dire condition, yet her resilience remained.
Little Wanderers NYC shared, “Baby kitten Cowbelle is trying very hard to live, and it’s working.” This tiny warrior was determined to survive despite the odds stacked against her.
Cowbelle battled a severe respiratory infection that escalated into pneumonia. The veterinary team provided oxygen, medication, and constant care. Her journey was arduous, but her will to live never wavered.
Touch and Go
After a week in the hospital, Cowbelle was discharged, only to be rushed back to the emergency room. Each day was a struggle, but she held onto hope and purred through the pain, refusing to surrender.
Despite her lack of appetite, she took her treatments and sought comfort in her caretakers, gazing at them with trust even in her weakest moments. Her determination to survive was unwavering.
“She spent so much time in the hospital that she has more veterinary friends than any other kitten we know. She’s got the whole team on her side,” said one of her rescuers.
With weeks of intensive care, Cowbelle bounced back with renewed energy. She overcame fever and pneumonia, and when faced with a mild seizure disorder, she bravely tackled it with medication.
A Resilient Warrior
“She is a world-fighter. She is a sweet, feisty little girl,” her caregivers noted. Cowbelle now runs around and plays as if nothing ever happened, her feisty spirit delighting everyone she meets.
Her early life was fraught with challenges, but now she thrives with an enthusiasm for exploration and a natural curiosity. She adores both people and other cats, her affectionate nature shining through.
With her playful antics and charming personality, Cowbelle can melt even the grumpiest hearts. She loves attention, often demanding it with head butts, leg rubs, and purrs that could rival a motorboat.
“This kitten has had more issues in her short life than many of us see in a lifetime. She lived. She thrived. She’s strong,” her carers proudly shared.
Ready for a Forever Home
At five months old, Cowbelle is ready to find a loving home where she will be cherished and treated like royalty. Her seizure disorder is well-controlled with medication, and she lives a full, happy life.
Every day is an adventure for Cowbelle. She has been elevated back to “normal little kitten status,” and she embraces life with the heart of a lion.
Her journey from a cold, rainy street to a warm, loving environment is a testament to her unbreakable spirit and the love and care she received from her rescuers.
Cowbelle is not just a survivor; she is a champion, ready to fill her forever home with love, joy, and endless purrs.

Why was she discharged if she was still so sick? Poor baby!
